FIRE CITY: THE INTERPRETER OF SIGNS is the first in a series based on a city where demons coexist with humans in plain sight, humans conditioned not to see their supernatural cohabitants. After developing not just a story but a whole world for these ideas to exist in creators Michael Hayes and Brian Lubocki created test footage and then a successful Kickstarter campaign to further their endeavors. With Amalgamated Dynamics Inc. co-founder Tom Woodruff Jr. taking the director’s chair and putting the weight of his award winning effects company behind the film, Fire City: Interpreter of Signs is on its way to being released in 2015. A post-noir gothic horror, Fire City is propelled as much by its story and characters as it is excellent practical special effects. Michael Hayes and Tom Woodruff Jr. called in to It Came From the Indies where they talk with Martin about the film, its place in an industry dominated by computer graphics and the challenges in creating such an ambitious world on a limited budget.
Check out the official Fire City Youtube channel for a wealth of different videos covering the film’s production.
