It Came From the Indies – The October People

thedeviceJohn Portonova and Jeremy Berg are part of The October People, a group dedicated to making independent horror and genre film. With two films under their belts and a third one on the way they are definitely a group to look out for as their budgets grow and their ideas become grander and more inspirational. Martin speaks with John and Jeremy about their first release THE INVOKING (AKA Sader Ridge) and the recently released THE DEVICE. Sometimes less is more and they speak on being able to use the quietness of nature, seemingly mundane settings, and strong character moments to build suspense without the need for gore and explosions. They also speak on the trials and tribulations of distribution and pros and cons of having a traditional DVD distributor release your film where they may deliberately misrepresent the contents in service of catching the eye in the store shelf. Plus get pumped for their upcoming VALLEY OF THE SASQUATCH which is the next release from The October People and their contribution to the recent spate of Bigfoot/Sasquatch movies AKA THE SASQUANASSAISANCE! A great episode to start off the year with two great dudes and hopefully an inspirational one for those hoping to make a movie one day.
