We have a PACKED episode for you today! Not only do you get the usual high level of gossip talkery that you have come to expect from Cinemosity but we have a special guest to help us celebrate WOMEN IN HORROR MONTH! Ashlee, webmaster of Graveyard Shift Sisters and co-host of Girls Will Be Ghouls, joins us. Ashlee is a writer truly dedicated to talking about the roles of women of color in horror bringing wonderful insight to genre film.
Ashlee is a huge fan of the A Nightmare on Elm St. fan so it only seemed right we had her on to talk about FREDDY’S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE directed by Rachel Talalay. We go in pretty deep on this movie, being the 6th in the franchise and the alleged swansong for the character there are certainly high expectations attached to the film. How does this movie balance the horror and humor in comparison to its predecessors?
As this is the Women in Horror Month Special we also talk a great deal about representation of women in horror, how genre film benefits from a diverse array of different viewpoints and experiences. This is a great episode so check it out and also check out Graveyard Shift Sisters and Girls Will Be Ghouls!
Next week our movie is the Blaxploitation classic FOXY BROWN! See you next week!
