Cinemosity 175 – Spontaneous Combustion

Cinemosity 175 – Spontaneous Combustion

There’s a plethora of stories to tackle this week including more sad passings and happier stories like babies and sequels to movies we liked! Then there’s some social justicey stuff as we talk about Loreal firing their first trans model because apparently talking about racism is against their dedication to diversity. Yeah. Then the MOVIE is a variation on the 50’s “atom bomb” age sci-fi from 1990, Tobe Hooper’s SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION. It’s a bit of Firestarter and a big hunka Scanners but is quite a remarkable little film of its own. A lot of this is due to the fantastic performance from Brad Dourif who brings drama and real sympathy to a role that could have been extremely silly. It’s still silly though, there are lots of characters and a bit too much stuff all trying to go on at the same time but following the sad passing of Mr. Hooper we hope you’ll check out this movie if you’re not familiar with it.

Our next movie will be the bizarre low budget action/horror fairy tale INK. Just take a look at that trailer and try not to be intrigued by the unique imagery created for the film, it’s an incredibly ambitious low budget fantasy. You can stream it on Amazon Prime video or buy the movie directly from the filmmaker.
